I don't think the Chromecast 4k will play six channels of HD audio.

It looks like it might... with a few caveats to keep it interesting.

Thanks bear.   They talk about Dolby Digital and Toslink.   I know for certain that Toslink won't handle 6 channels of HD audio, that's why before HDMI I had to get a receiver with 5.1 inputs to enjoy my surround SACDs and DVD-As.   It seems this would have the same limitation.   It's okay, I'm warming up to the idea of having a HT PC.

A very good (great, really) friend just gave me a HTPC.   I don't know what the board or CPU are, but it has two SSDs, an HDMI graphics card and dual antenna wireless card.   The case is killer.   It's made for this application and looks right at home in a stack of HiFi gear.   Pic from the web...



He tells me it is fully functional and was replaced with a laptop, but I won't have time to test it tonight.
