looking for a pre-amp with phono to borrow
« on: December 27, 2018, 06:02:51 PM »
Need to borrow a vintage, not super valuable, pre-amp w phono, for my neighbor. NAD? Adcom? Open to what you have. I will be responsible for it, but will be loaning it to my neighbor, along with my small Adcom amp.  His receiver blew a gasket and he cannot afford a replacement right this minute. He's a musician, rebuilds guitars and vintage guitar amps... and a very good guy. I will be responsible for it....  who knows he may buy it if you, if want to sell it in a bit. I'm guessing will need it for 4 months.   Thanks   Jim
a bunch of nice sounding stuff. Nice that I'm finally able to actually listen to file music for the first time...

You are welcome to borrow my Vincent Pho-8.   It might be overkill, but it's still new in the box and waiting to be used when I revamp my system (which I have no idea when that will happen).   I am told it needs about a hundred hours of burn in before it really blooms, so your neighbor would be doing me a favor.

very generous, thank you. I'm hopping for something a little less high end, but if I can't find something simpler? (not quite the right word) I'll let you know. A receiver might work also. Would be pushing a pair of rather large University speakers at high ish volume lol.... so 60 watts or more.

I just picked up a H/K integrated right around that power, but I haven't checked it yet.   It could be DOA for all I know.

The Vincent isn't that high end.   $300 new, I traded some jazz albums for it.

Which?   The Vincent or the H/K?   I don't know how soon I'll get to it.
