Personal CD Players What are some of the better units?

(1/1)

pitts64:
Hello,
I'm looking for a very good personal CD player. I want to use it on my Pontiac's sound system. It's an old car and I don't want to get into installing decks and head units...

I've been looking at a couple different units like the Phillips, Awia, Sony Discman..

Any thoughts?

Reverend:
I can't say I've had a discman/personal disc player in years since mp3 players came along.  I couldn't recommend anything but welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum.

I, like Rev, don't know what is on the market any more since the portable mp3 players have become so popular.  Have you thought about ripping your collection to a digital format and putting on a small hand held device?  You could then get an RF modulator and broadcast it to your radio in your car with no wiring.

That IMO would be better than carrying all those disks around and you can make play lists or do random shuffle.  Just a thought.

Are you wanting to play music through you car's speakers?

If yes, I find RF modulator audio quality is poor.  An iPod with a cassette adapter is your best bet if you have a cassette player in the car.  If not, the RF modulator is probably your only option and requires you have an FM radio in your car.
