rgpit, can you use the 1042gx in place of the 1012? I have a Musichall with the 1012 and the stylus is getting up there... If they are compatible, I might just go with the 1042.
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Apsitively and posilutely! The cartridge bodies are the same. All you need to upgrade is the 1042 stylus.

Here is a link to a local guy with good prices. Generally he has them in stock.  - http://britaudio.com/Cartridges.html -

Wow! I just registered here and I find someone with the lovely Harbeth Compact 7ES speakers! I'm a Pittsburgher who is about to buy a pair. How do you like yours?
I see you also have the Maggie 1.6s. What are your thoughts on them versus the Harbeths?
Last (and sorry for all of the questions), are yours the ES1, ES2, or ES3?

Thanks!

I am very happy with the Harbeths. They are the model ES3s, are very easy to listen to, and present an awesome sound-stage. I am also a Magnepan fan and have not been able to part with 1.6s even after buying the Harbeths. Occasionally I will switch them back into the system.

The differences to me are that the Harbeths are more forgiving of room acoustics and have a more solid right to left image. The Maggies have a depth of image that is truly amazing. Both have great resolution, dynamics, and detail.

I would say that, based on one's music preference, the associated electronics, and listening acoustics it could go either way. For what it's worth the Harbeths continue to be my most listened to speakers.

Ron
