Found this today, played decent after cleaning, not typical blues imo, on YouTube if you care to check it out.

Al Hirt
"This is Al Hirt"

2 record set I bought at HPB about a month ago for $6
He was one of my earliest trumpet influences.
I could play just like him. At least I could if I was a lot better than I am. I was quite good in my day but that ship has sailed.

I was quite good in my day but that ship has sailed.

That's a hard thing, isn't it?   I'm well younger than you , but I still get sad some days that I can't count on my high C anymore (singing).   Some days it shows up, but most days it is gone.

I was quite good in my day but that ship has sailed.

This trait is/was not hereditary.  Me playing trumpet sounds like a fart in the wind.

listening to this - but to say it is not the best this band ever recorded would be putting it mildly.  crap recording.

I always felt that was one band where the sound quality and the musical quality were pretty much inversely proportional.   The early 70s stuff was great music that sounded like sludge.   The late 80s stuff was audiophile quality sap.

I wish there was a grading method for factory recorded open reel tapes.  Despite attempts by sellers to describe condition, one never knows in what physical and sonic condition a tape will be.
Mac stuff, Sony HDR-F1HD AM/FM/HD tuner, Denon DRS 810 cassette, Denon CDR-W1500 CD recorder, Music Hall MMF-9 w/B&O MMC2, B & O 4002 w/B & O 20 CL, Revox A-77

Many sellers don't have a way to play them.
