Kansas "Left Overture", vinyl, original buy back in the day, still sounds good, going to wash it and give it another spin.

King Crimson
Larks Tongues In Aspic (1973)

I recorded this onto RTR while in college from a new LP a friend had just bought. The recording still sounds amazing after all these years.

I'm glad to hear that you are up to fumbling with tape reels.   That is very good news.

Thanks Thrifty. I'm using my Akai as I have a wired remote for it and it's auto reverse so I don't have to get up often. Plus it's an awesome sounding deck. Amazing how great my tapes still sound after 40+ years.

I'm now listening to "CHASE".  Self titled first album.

Next up is George Harrison "All Things Must Pass"

Listening to 'Pictures at an Exhibition' on SACD by Living Stereo, Chicago Symphony.  Anyone that claims that this is better than vinyl is having a bad trip on acid.  Or my SACD player is not up to the task.  But as it stands vinyl kicks the SACD in the jeans.

Hey Mark, that is a first pressing as I bought it new.  I hadn't listened to it in many years.  Hence, it went up for sale at the swap meet.  I am glad that you enjoy it!

A really stellar $2 record like this can bring me as much joy as an expensive pair of speakers.

More importantly, are you listening on the Rotel or the 1700?

STaL, I'm listening on the Rotel you were kind enough to loan me. It actually sounds pretty good. It won't handle much in the way of undulations on a record (used ones from thrifts) like my ReVox does but I doubt any conventional tonearm or longer type linear tracking arm can compete with the ReVox Linatrack system. The 1700 should be here by Thursday. At least if I don't like it I can blame you >:D

It's a great drive but a lesser arm.   Find me something that my QL-A7 with AT440MLa won't handle.   I dare you.

The Unthanks - Mount the Air

A hauntingly beautiful album.  Saw them on Later with Jools Holland the other day.

While I was in Chattanooga we went to a place called McKay's. It's like a Sam's Club version of Half Price Books with the clientele who couldn't get in Walmart. Anyhow, I found a 74 pressing of Jr Walker's Shotgun - SEALED. $6.95. I usually have horrible luck buying old sealed records, most are warped. This one is one of the best sounding records I own. Judging by the price of other LPs there, someone made a big booboo pricing this one.
