Leslie West
"Mountain"
RTR dubbed from LP around 1971-72

The band "Mountain" founded and fronted by Leslie West, was named after Leslie West's debut solo album.

Leslie West was born Leslie Weinstein in NYC to Jewish parents. He could have opened a Jewish deli/restaurant.

Not related. Mark Almond not Allman like Greg & Duane.
I did tons of dubbing to RTR in the 70's and tons onto cassette in the 80's.     99% still sound great.
I did keep lots of notes including the release date of the original LP, dub date, source TT/cartridge and target tape deck used. I even included song titles and times all of which are readily available on the internet these days

Just finished a mono two-eye of Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, now I'm listening to Unforgettable by Natalie Cole.   Both in EX condition.   Yesterday was a very good thrift store day.

Saturday Night Fever
Movie Soundtrack

LP released 1977
Dubbed from LP on my Thorens TD-160 to a Pioneer CTF-900 cassette deck I owned briefly. This is the only tape I have that was recorded on that machine.  Bought the deck at Listening Post in 1978 and man was it a lemon. Took it back and they traded it for another new one in factory sealed box. Another lemon. Took it back and they said the decks were plagued with problems. Paid them the difference and upgraded to an Aiwa AD-6900. No comparison.  Of course the Pioneer was $575 and the Aiwa was $850. A much better deck. I disliked Pioneer's fluoroscan meters and other features anyway.  After that I never bought another Pioneer product except a used CD jukebox from Tom a few years ago. Unfortunately neither deck had Dolby-C or metal tape capability. Then some years later JVC introduced their DD-99 which I bought. This was truly an awesome deck until the warranty expired. Then it developed torque issues in the right take up spindle. Sent it to JVC service and it cost $150. It worked for a week and same problem developed. Back to JVC. Got it back and after a week same problem again. Shipped to JVC again. Luckily this time UPS lost it. I did my happy dance and with the settlement from UPS bought a Nakamichi which has less unnecessary features but is better built and still works to this day. No more JVC audio products for me after that. Their QC was questionable and their service department really sucked. Wow was that a rant.
