For sale or Trade - Various
« on: January 22, 2011, 11:33:30 AM »
Hi gang - here are some of the items I have for sale - let me know if interested in auditioning and I will take them with me to the meeting tonight:

- Pioneer CTF-1250 cassette deck.  Re-belted and tweaked by Tom here and there to get it going properly.  One of the motors is weak, needs to rest every 50 minutes (just like the current owner).  Cosmetically beautiful (unlike the current owner).  Interested in a fair cash offer or trade for a tabletop shortwave receiver of similar caliber.  SD:  this is your kind of hardware - trade me something for it!
- Polk ref Monitors - I have a pair of 5s and a pair of 5Plus,  both in great shape.  The 5s have upgraded cross-overs.  Interested in fair cash offers or trades.
- I have a pair of Polk RDO194s that are a few months old, in the box they came in.  Great upgrade for the SL-2000.  Half price sale at $50.
- Mirage 890is - Great bipolar towers, 60 pounds each, great shape - few snags in the cloth grill
-Sansui 7000 receiver, needs a good cleaning of the pots, original box and packing mat, manual and service manual. Looking for interesting in trades for shortwave receiver or cash.
-Sansui QS800 quad synthesizer (or can use a 50 wpc power amp). Also needs some cleaning.  Cosmetically beautiful. Looking for a fair cash offer.
- Also have a pristine speaker enclosure and grill for a JBL-4410.   Exclusive price for club members - 1 beer.

None of the above is on the list,  just offering to the geeks here, looking to try new stuff and if possible beef up my collection of shortwave stuff.  So for all of the above assume I will do special pricing (just don't turn around and sell on the list - thanks!).

Forgot to mention:

Thinking of trying an all-Carver setup in my upstairs office (where I now have the Yammy 3090 and a bunch of speakers, playing with Yamaha's digital sound field simulation stuff),  so offers for trade to Carver stereo stuff would be of extra interest as  move in that direction.

Yeah, you know that 1250 is my kinda gear.

What you don't know is, I'm pretty much out of interesting or cool stuff to trade. I'm sure someone will want it.

Just joined the forum and saw your post.  I have a Halicrafters SW 500 shortwave radio.  It's about the size of a large shoe box; not sure of the vintage, but will guess it's from the 1960's (metal case/tubes).  Some controls are a bit noisy, but everything works, it's in beautiful cosmetic shape and includes the original telescoping antenna.  I am interested in a swap for audiophlie LP's, classic 1970's mid-fi receiver (Pioneer?) or any fair cash offer is acceptable.  Thanks.

Pepe,

I'm interested in the Sansui 7000.  Will you be at Tom's this Saturday?

I am thinking of dropping by.  The Sansui is at Falcon's for a cleaning - not sure if he has started on it yet.  Can check.

Pepe,

Do you still have the RDO194's available.  I may be interested in them.  Been debating about upgrading my 1C's.  Would have to scrape up some cash before I could buy them from you.  Did you upgrade your Polks with these?  Was it a major improvement?  I would still have to get 2 more as the 1C's have 2 tweets in each speaker, so it is not like I would be doing this right away anyhow.  If you get an offer before I can come up with the scratch, take it.  But just wanted to let you know, if I scrape up the dough and you still have them, I will definitely be talking with you.

Neil.

PS - still haven't fixed the poly switch on my speaker yet- actually - now that I think of it, it hasn't tripped in a while.  (Maybe it was the shitty recording my wife was playing that triggered it!!!!! - LOL)
MAIN SYSTEM:Carver TFM-55, Carver C-16, Carver S/DA-490t, Carver TD-1770, BSR-EQ3000, Philips AF-677, Auvio HD Radio Tuner, Polk SDA-1C's
Man Cave: HR-772, Technics SL-P220, Polk Monitor 12 Series 2

yep,  still have the RDOs,  stored in the boxes they came in.

they definitely improved my Monitors when I tried them,  but since I am selling them (Monitor 5 and 5 Plus) I put the originals back in as I figured I would not recover the cost of the RDOs if sold with them.  And the original SL-2000s did not sound bad either.

Did you ever decide to rebuild the drive motor on the 1250?

The 1250 is working beautifully - i just fake i have something to do after 40 minutes to give it a rest. tom has an idea about dipping the motor in some solution that will somehow dislodged the dirt creating the bald spots.  I need to interrogate him further as it sounds like the road to perdition for my beautiful 1250.

Yeah. That might be an option. From the scarce materials out there on rebuilding those puppies, they kind of suck to disassemble.

I know you probably have a love / hate relationship with that thing!  ;D ;D

I don't hate it,  Tom hates it - he replaced the belts (has not billed me for it yet - I am afraid to ask  ::)).  I just want to fix the motor so I can sell it for as vintage porn electronics on epay.  I think Fairchance is going to get it and he will probably end up making the real money on this.

It is a great deck.
