Scott 299
« on: February 07, 2011, 08:01:34 PM »
Excellent cosmetic condition.  Will need filter caps replaced. Powered it up today with a variac and put a new GZ34 in as well as output tubes. Sounds great. I don't have time to work on it. $250.00

Is this the A, B, or C version?

I have the brown face LK-72 which is the kit version of the 299 with the 7591 power tubes.  Sounds terrific!

Your 299 would mate very well with bmwr75's Dynaco A-25 XL.  That would be one hell of a vintage rig for less than $500!!

Depending on whether it's an A, B or C suffix, the RMS output varies from 17 (A) to 31(C) wpc.  Look at the HH Scott database Here

Thanks for the clarification!  I actually prefer the sound out of the lower powered Scott integrated,  My 222B uses the 6BQ5 or EL-84s and it sounds fantastic.  These amps are great for near field listening or small rooms.  If you are looking for chest thumping bass, these lower powered Scott amps will not give you that.  For SQ these are terrific!

Yes, steady hum at idle. However, I sean283 called dibs on it. I just have not given him a shipping cost yet.

Scotts are descent tube amps.  I have the 299 a&d and like them both.  Should not be a difficult repair, and the price is quite fair! ;D
