Uses a 12 " driver for each speaker.

Cabinet dimensions = H 23 x W 19 x D 11.5.


The Frequency Range: 20 Hz to 80 Hz


I'm really not sure whether the subs have an internal crossover or not. Finding info on them is tedious. I've read that they do and don't.

It can't be more than 8 screws to find out.

I'm guessing they don't. They were probably originally driven by some sort of proprietary amplification system.

I tried to get one of the drivers out, but they are glued down. I'm not going to risk damaging the speaker to find out.

Not 100% sure what you mean. I just ran the subs again though. 1st through the main pre-outs and then through the sub outs, and I'll say beyond a reasonable doubt that there is no crossover. I knew there were frequencies above 80hz coming out without the preamp crossover, but you'll get that. The crossover design regulates how much sound you get above a set frequency. It's a HUGE difference through the preamp crossover, so... No crossover in da box says me...

Ed,

More questions---have you listened to them and if so how do they sound? The satellites look like about 6" 2 ways with two drivers each for the tweets and woofs and the driver configuration looks the same for all three.  How do they sound oriented horizontally vs verticallly?  Do you know when they were manufactured?  Is the finish piano black, or is the woodgrain visible (or are they vinyl clad)?  I can't tell form the pics.  The system might serve as an upgrade across the front in my theater.  Thanks.

From what I've read I'm guessing they were manufactured in the late 90s. The whole system includes everything I have and a pair of surround speakers (which are currently available on a-gon) and sold for around $6000. The woodgrain is visible through the paint. I am currently running two of the LCRs in my living room vertically, and they sound great. Not quite as nice, though, as my Focals... but I didn't expect them to be. I've yet to listen to them horizontally. The subs put out as much bass as you would expect from a big sealed box with a high quality 12" driver. It seems to be very controlled and the ultra deep frequencies come out effortlessly. The cabinets have some marks on them, but they are in no way beat up.
