Newbie named Rainman
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:44:41 AM »
Hi to all from the latest "newbie". I'm Rainman and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. My short story is I spent 24 years in the racing industry working in about every racing series a person can think of. I have the greatest wife/best friend in the world. She also did her fair share of time in racing. With all of her experiences around the racing "clowns" and other places you'll discover that you can't say anything she hasn't already heard so she isn't easily offended like many wives. On the forums she goes by Rainwoman so don't be afraid to say hi. She knows many interesting, famous, and some notorious people like Warren Johnson, his wife, and some of his crew, Ron Hornaday, Keith Roberts- (winning enginebuilder of the 24hrs. of Daytona), and Ron White to name a few. Oh yeah she is also good friends with Mr. Bob Carver! I have been privileged to get to know him through her.  We were actually married at Bristol Motor Speedway during the pre race show on NBC we did our vows at the start finish line right before the race. We have been together for going on 14 wonderful years. Our house looks like a racing museum inside and we have a pictures scrap book that a race fan won't believe. For anyone interested I'm always happy to share pics and tales.  We have an Australian Cattle Dog (some know them as heelers) named Babbit who is smarter than most of our friends kids, no joke. He knows how to flush the toilet for himself (Tom's seen it) he also knows to turn the lights off and keep kitchen cupboard doors shut. From what I've been told most kids don't have these skills. That's the short of our family. I will post the basics and some pics of our main system soon, (we have the Linn speakers Tom sometimes mentions). I will also post some pics and let my wife do the description of her upstairs system which includes a pair of Bob's Cinema Ribbons (we love them)! Tom is a good friend and an outstanding person so like I said, I'm happy to be aboard THANKS TOM!

Welcome! I'm excited to see some pics.
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Welcome! I'm excited to see some pics.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
here are a few for you to check out... First pic is my wife with Warren Johnson taken near the end of a 100+ degree day and about 5 minutes before a tornado touched down less than 1/2 mile from us.
Second pic, ALMS series gt corvette during build & about 60% complete
Third pic, Paul Menard Busch car waiting for engine from dyno shop.
Fourth pic, Rainwoman and Mr. Carver who seems to be smiling just a little....
