Unusual Pioneer receiver

I just came across a Pioneer SX 525 receiver.  Not normally a remarkable piece; however, the front panel is a champaign color, instead of the usual silver.  Also, the Pioneer logo in the upper left corner of the face plate is in brown instead of the usual black.  Has anyone ever come across anything similar, or maybe heard of any "special edition" products of this vintage?

Some their gear sold overseas had different color schemes.  This was what the SX-1250 look like in Europe:

Yep....most European Pioneer models were black-faced, instead of silver-faced.  But, they usually changed the model number too I think??????

Champagne colored faceplates are for the Asian market, Japan in this case.

Interesting and thanks.  Do the Japenese use 120 volts and the same a/c plugs we use?  My 525 is ready to go, I just plugged it in and the power cord looks original.    I want one of those 1250s.

I think this one may have been sold as the SX-5500 or something like that; can't make out the pic exactly.

The mains supply in Japan is 100 volts and part of the country is 50 cycles while the other is 60. The plugs and sockets pretty much look like the ones we use here except both blades are the same size.

Does yours say it is wired for 120V/60 cycle?

The protection and main fuses note 125 volts.  The service manual notes five different configurations, two of which are 120 volts (USA and Canada) and this one fits those descriptions.  The other three configurations, per the service manual are 220 volts (Europe) and two versions of a 5 position selector for West Germany and "general export".  It sure looks like it was set up for 120 volts in North America.

Pioneer stuff looks good, sold good, and to me it sounded good when not hooked to the wrong speakers.
Also, it was good bang for the buck and as vintage gear it still is.  Most the receivers had a bright sound that I prefer.
