RCA jack plate

I want to retrofit a turntable with rca jacks and I need a jack plate. I would just drill holes in the wood chassis and mount the jacks there, but the wood is just over 1/4" thick and I can't find any jacks that will work. Anyway when I search for rca jack plates all I get are wall plates. Does anyone know if there is a company out there that manufactures jack plates that would work in my situation? If not, I'd love to hear recommendations on how to make my own.

I was actually thinking about doing xlr type connectors as a plan B. I could then build my own xlr to rca cables.

Why make things more complicated?

I speak from experience.  Have a few pro x-overs that all are XLR only.  Pain in the ass using XLR to RCA cables since they are different from every other cable you got handy (me anyway).

All I see on that link is that it needs a 1/4" drill out. I don't see anything about the depth of a chassis it can be used in.

I think that's gonna be my best option. Now to find a ground lug. On that note, why do TTs need a separate ground anyway. Why don't they just ground to the RCAs? Probably a dumb question... I'm just curious.

What do you guys think about this? If I could remove the binding posts and put in RCAs it would work perfect. Only problem is I don't know how they are held in place...

Sounds good. I'm trying to get ideas online... but it would be nice to see a completed one in person.
