McIntosh XD 717 speakers FS FT
« on: February 24, 2012, 01:19:14 PM »
I'll start by saying the only reason I am getting rid of these is to get into a pair of bookshelf speakers. If I had the room for these I would keep them.
Condition is good with the exception being one of the pedestals (?) that hold the speaker up about 2" from the ground was damaged (looks like water) before I bought the speakers. Easy repair and the actual cabinet is solid. They sound great and work perfectly.

Sell: $450
Trade for an equal valued pair of bookshelf speakers.

Specs:
3-way floor system has 12" woofer, 6-1/2 mid and 1" soft dome tweeter. Walnut veneer cabinet. Black grille cloth.

Main and tweeter fuses are located at the back of the cabinet.

Crossover frequencies: at 350Hz and 1kHz
Impedance: 8 ohms
Output: 87dB @1w/1m
Power rating: 100w
Size: 37-3/4"H, 17-1/2"W and 11-13/16"D
Weight: 66 lb.
Sold from: 1986 to 1990
Last retail price: $799.00 each

I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Are these the speakers that you showed me when I got the Def Tech sub from you that were in your room right by the porch?  How much power do these need?  Never thought I would see you selling a pair of McIntosh speakers!  :o

They are the successor to the ones I showed you. 100-150 per channel should do just fine. I had them on a slightly beefed up Bryston 3B.
