Interesting. Titebond seems to be what most places recommend,  but I can tell you that the HF stuff does a decent job too. With time you can get the technique down to use less and less glue. Just did two records using much less. Will see how they come out.  I am now trying the really bad ones that I had written off but was keeping hold off due to sentimental value. Not expecting miracles,  but to get them reasonably 'listenanble'.

I am also playing around with the bulk tape eraser as a static removal tool.  Will report on that too.

Since this method does use so much glue, have any of you guys doing this considered doing two records at once, stuck together.  I wonder how much stress would be required to separate them.

It would be twice as fast and use half as much glue if it would work easily.

hmmm  I smell an experiment here.

you would coat one record with glue first, then sandwich the second one onto it.  it is risky in that the glue could run into both record's labels, and then you have ruined labels.  And it would be impossible to positively confirmed that the glue on the top record reached everywhere (unless the LP is translucent  :D).  but yes - will try this and report back.

I'm thinking you would end up with a permanent record sandwich. Remember... It's glue!

I think it would slow down the drying time considerably.

Plus, with the raised edge on most records to make them safe for changers, you may actually increase the amount of glue needed.

Well my Doors record is listenable now, but I wouldn't say it's a reference copy or restored. I'd say half the sizzling bacon is gone, but quiet passages are still not great. Maybe a second coating.

As for gluing two together, I don't think pulling them apart would be an issue. I would definitely put a pull tab of something between them. I would also experiment two records with larger run out sections. STaL maybe on to something with the raised edge.

I spoke too soon, side one was a bit better. Side two is still complete garbage. I think this record is too far gone. Perhaps construction adhesive is an option.

Glue will only remove debris.   It won't cure groove damage.
