The last piece
« on: August 11, 2015, 11:54:26 PM »
After many years of collecting Melos gear, I finally got the last piece.  The extremely rare Melos CDD-2, Melos' top of the line reference transport.  All my Melos gear is their best reference line, all black face with gold trim.  Pictured is the Melos CDD-2 and Max3r tube DAC, is that not the best looking CDT/DAC combo?  The rest of the line up, not pictured:

Melos MA-333 "Music Director" Line preamp
Melos MA-333 Plus Series Power supply
Melos MA 333r Phono Stage
Melos SHA-Gold headphone amp (in 2nd pic, bottom)

This set up is on deck, waiting for a chance to shine, coming soon to a geek meeting near you!  And I would like to take a moment to Thank BryanT.
Duntech PCL-400 (Black Knight), KEF 105/3, Snell Type b
Aloia PST 11.1, Terra Song ss-1, Luxman c-1000, Melos MA333
Llano Phoenix CA-300, White Audio Labs A100, (2) Luxman M4000
McIntosh MA230

Congrats.  I know how satisfying it is to finally complete the quest for the last link in the chain.  Now you need to set out on building the next system

Congrats Nick!

How many years did it take you?  How many pieces?  What techniques/websites did you use to find the rarer pieces? (or did you just persist search-tempesting daily?)  Is all the gear connected (I assume no way,  but imagine you will rotate them to keep them alive)

I'm looking forward to the Geek meeting. I't always very cool to finish a "collection". OBTW, it was nice seeing you at Carl's ...
a bunch of nice sounding stuff. Nice that I'm finally able to actually listen to file music for the first time...

Congratulations, Nick.  I bet it will sound good.   You must have been busy lately with this and the setup with the Duntechs.   I bet those monsters were fun to move!
