Sorry to revive an old thread, my question is which of any of the ones mentioned have variable outputs?

Any recommendations for CDP's with variable outputs other then the ones listed?

I don't know about the rest but I believe the Onkyo does, I know my 706 does.

My old 14 bit Magnavox was my favorite but of course i modded it to heck.

My Mac MCD 7007.  It's based on the Phillips unit.  Bought it new 22 years ago and still haven't found anything I like better at a reasonable price.

I only have had the Carver unit but my old Magnavox cd player I bought in college is still in use and sounds great!

I am willing to bet that I own a vintage "Hall of Fame" cd player that noone else around here does.

It's the JVC XL-V1100. It's a single disc cd player that weighs over 20 pounds. Very impressive looking.

It is a beautiful sounding unit.......or was until 2 weeks ago. I went to put it in my seasonal rotation, but everything seems fine except that it is not reading the discs.

It has a separate rear end chassis for, I guess, power supply stuff.  Very nice,  never seen it before.   Did it sound decent last time you tried it? That is the thing with the CD-80: it is vintage but it still sounds amazing.

I'm a big fan of my dbx dx5 cd player and was more than pleased when it returned to my home/ system after more than a decade in someone else's hands lol  ...and thanks to Anders and Tom's hard work it's back in new or better shape! 

variable output, three dbx sound processors that actually work! and per September of 1987 Stereo Review Magazine / Julian Hirsh  " the dbx DX5 has one of the flatest frequency responses we have measured from a CD player. 20 -20,000hz output varied only +0, -0.1db"  and in conclusion " Even without its special circuits, the dbx DX5 would rank as one of the best CD players available. WIth them, it has to be considered a very impressive product indeed."
