BJ, Master Guitarist
« on: April 14, 2016, 01:45:18 AM »
Steve (aka BearJew) performed his recital this past Sunday at Duquesne University for his Master's degree in Classical Guitar Performance. He's all done now and is officially a Master Guitarist. He's thrilled and we're proud.

For those of you not aware his wife, Xinlei, has her undergrad and Master's degrees in Music Composition. In fact they met at Duquesne University School of Music.
In addition Xinlei has  an incredible operatic singing voice. She has studied opera since she was very young. She currently has several private students.

To you new members, I'm BearJew's father.

Congratulations BJ.  You should be very proud of yourself.  Your dad certainly is and shows it proudly.
Good luck with the school loans.

Outstanding accomplishment.  You are now an example of those people with extraordinary talent, to whom I refer when I say I wish I could be that good at something.

Congrats Steve...   The perseverance (and willingness to take on debt) required to complete a masters degree at a great school like Duquesne is to be respected.  Kudos to you for that;  I know we joke a lot but on this one I am being serious.  Dad is proud for good reason.

Thanks guys.  I will admit that it does feel pretty cool to be LITERALLY a "master of guitar".  I see myself as Splinter from the TMNT, but for guitar.  In all seriousness though, thanks.  Now, onward and upward!
