Just got a new to me pair of Infinity Reference Five's from Tommy. Sound is positively superb
Tommy re-foamed the Woofers and Mids and did a fantastic job. I do know a lot of people who THINK they can do a pro re-foam, but none are as good as Tommy
Seriously, Tom is the MAN, when it comes to re-foam's..
So, back to the Infinity's. Superb speakers
the Emit-r tweeter's are world class.. The IMG woof's, and mids are fantastic. Build quality of the cabinets and drivers is excellent. Deep, palpable low frequency response. cross-overs are smooth. Everything I listened to sounded great, I am getting out cd's I have not heard for awhile just to hear how good they sound. And they sound good.
I have owned speakers from, Dahlquist, Polk sda's from the 1c's to the sda-srs, monitor 10A, Snell, Infinity, Maggies, PSB, You name it, I probably have had it..
Are these the best??? Hell no, but they are great speakers, and when kept in perspective of the original new cost of $750.00 a pair, They were a great deal then.. And for what you can find a pair for now, a no brainer
