The main difference between silver and plats are the plats have four 12" woofers each to the silver's 3 and the plats have a 60" ribbon to the silvers 48".

Also early amazings had dual 30" ribbons in each panel and honeycomb woofers( same as early Silvers)

They are worth about $7-800 in working condition. No foam surround rot or buzzing ribbons.  It is about 1K to have the ribbons rebuilt. I would wait for the big boys. ;)

how about these?

Those are the big boys.  Price seems a bit high but that is my opinion.  I think these have been out on Audiogon for a while also.

I think this total package is great, separate active crossover for Bi Amping. (use a Sunfire 400x5)
I sold a similar package 3 months ago for $1200.00 with brand new ribbons.
I would make an offer in that range. they are heavy 104lbs each, so shipping is
out of the question. make sure you can pick them up.
I only sold my set due to lack of room to place them.

Ribbons have a life of about 20 years.  If they are kept in a moist enviroment that will take time off of them.  If they are kept in a climate controled setting you can get more life out of them.

In time they all will need repaired and you are looking at about $1,000 to get them back which will get you about another 20 years.
