Yeah... My cats tried to walk over it yesterday.
I'm keeping the cage on until i find a safe spot for it.

Beautiful looking unit.  I'm sure it sounds as good as it did 30 years ago.  NATOE, great job. Very neat and tidy. 

As far as the cats, keeping the cage on will only tease them into getting onto it, they feel the warmth of those tubes, those glorious tubes.  Take the cage off, no place to plank their ass!!
