I got a powered one hooked to a Sony HD radio tuner.  Works fine for that.

I have a powered antenna on the receiver on my home theater, works better than a rabbit ear, but I'm down in a hole. The only household HD receiver I have is a Zune HD w/internal antenna, so don't know for HD radio.

Yagi antenna (Radio Shack model FM-6) mounted on your roof.    It doesn't get any better.  About $30.  You have no idea how good radio sounds until you get an antenna out in the open air.

I agree 100% Spend the cash on a Yagi and a rotor.

When you amplify a signal, especially indoors, you also amplify the noise.

Actually, you can most likely get one for free. People still have them up on their roofs unused. I got a half wave (8') Yagi off of a friends old garage for a whopping free-ninety-free.

Cannot get much signal back here in the woods.  That goes for radio, phone, ect.

I have found that many radio stations are on on the web though, including my favorites.
The sound is very good because my computer is hooked to Carver gear.

Even a lot of AM stations stream online. Good call, OO.
