Well, I'm cleaning albums to sell them.   This one made it's way on to the platter in that process though I'm not selling it.   I wanted to make sure it plays as good as it looks before listing the Decca Rainbow stripe mono that it is replacing.

Many if not most of us have had the experience of listening to a pair of speakers that really pop in initial hearing, but become fatiguing with a long session or with different material (JBL L-100) vs a speaker than almost makes you yawn as a first impression, but then draws you in as you continue to listen, until you aren't really noticing the speaker at all, just the music (EPI 100). This mix is the EPI 100, not flashy or gimmicky in any way, but just drawing you in, making you appreciate the music in a great way and at times in ways you never have before. "Mother Nature's Son" was just magnificent, and it's always been kind of a middle of the road track for me. I was so glad they used the slap back echo on the snare on "Helter Skelter" like on the mono instead of the dry treatment like on the stereo. As much as I was disappointed in the Pepper 5.1 is as much as I am elated with the 5.1 White Album. Giles and his team really hit a home run here.

If I were to pick one nit, I would say that Paul's bass seems to have lost a shade of it's wonderful upper midrange growl. The pick on Rick sound was one of the most iconic rock sounds in my mind and it is slightly softened here.

I am hoping Santa brings me the 50th Anniversary The Beatles Super Deluxe.   Between recent purchases of the Dylan box and the Kinks Viilage Green 50th ( lost enroute from Amazon.uk, and allegedly re-sent) as well as the piles of CDs/box sets from the 40000 collection in Murrysville, I am tapped out.

Currently listening to Fred Hersch/Bill Frisell.  "Songs we Know".

Back in the day, 1973?, was never a fan of EPI 100s but loved L 100s. Actually auditioned them both for many hours and picked /purchased the L100s .. Never experienced ear fatigue of any kind with them. I did find that the L100s liked more power and sounded best with Marantz receivers instead of Pioneer and others of those days.
a bunch of nice sounding stuff. Nice that I'm finally able to actually listen to file music for the first time...

I had EPI M201's, kind of like two EPI 100's in one box.  At the time they were paired with a bad ass Sony STR-6200f receiver, boy I had a ton of fun with that combo.   STILL have not heard golden-era JBL's..

Janelle Monae  dirty computer.   Bought the Urban Outfitters exclusive (lol) double 45 rpm album on a recommendation.  Absolutely great pressing/ mastering! And if you are not familiar with her music, you're missing out... love the music, not necessarily all of the lyrics lol

I love her.   I do find the lyrics on this one over the top, but Archandroid is one of my very favorite soul albums.

Sounds just like what it is.   MS writing a bunch of songs in the style of Cheap Trick.   A very fun first listen, I'm curious to see how it holds up.

Morphine - yes. Recently remastered and repressed. The vinyl is dead silent, very spread out and ambient. I love this album, one of my favorites. I paid a nice ransom for a sealed original last summer and I’ll need to pull it out to compare, but if you’re a fan the repress is worth every cent.

The original press of yes is louder and larger than the repress. The original also has much more sibilance around the vocals, they cleaned all of that up on the repress.
