Oh, and if you liked it on first listen you may fall in love with it on repeated listens. Lots of layers, especially for a "country" album (parentheses because this is NOT Rascal Flats or whatever is big on country radio now). He wrote the album as a letter to his newborn son, so knowing that helps with the lyrics. Musically, I love the tracks with The Dap Kings. Using a great horn section puts me back to the 70s when the Southern Rock movement was melding styles and Al Green and some other soul singers weren't afraid to tackle a country song. Plus, the Nirvana cover is so wonderful and unexpected.
