I can't wait for this guy to come out with a new album.   Anyone heard anything?

I've never heard of it and wouldn't have even known what I was looking at.   That said, anyone who does rock versions of Edvard Grieg compositions is all right with me.

Years ago I wouldn’t have known either.
Would have thought it was an easy listening record.

Was intrigued by this cover. Took a listen on Spotify. I like it, it’s different.

I found this article from the boot about new music in the works from him: http://theboot.com/sturgill-simpson-one-dollar-tv-show-new-music-2018/

Listening to the jets of my hot tub.  It's a relatively quiet morning, with coffee in hand and a grey sky overhead.

Oh, and if you liked it on first listen you may fall in love with it on repeated listens.   Lots of layers, especially for a "country" album (parentheses because this is NOT Rascal Flats or whatever is big on country radio now).   He wrote the album as a letter to his newborn son, so knowing that helps with the lyrics.   Musically, I love the tracks with The Dap Kings.   Using a great horn section puts me back to the 70s when the Southern Rock movement was melding styles and Al Green and some other soul singers weren't afraid to tackle a country song.   Plus, the Nirvana cover is so wonderful and unexpected.

I believe Sturgill once said he will do five albums and then he'll move on to something else. Next one will be #4 and it will be without his original guitarist who was great IMHO.

This is my favorite Sturgill performance, the guitar tone is killer

Went down to the Attic today. Been on the hunt for psychedelic rock and similar things.
This was on my list. Funny thing is this was in a trade that walked in the door. Very happy to have found this.  :)

I was also at the Attic yesterday. So many records, so little money!

I guess copy and paste the link into the address bar until Tape Deek fixes this.

I’ll be giving it another listen for sure.

Linda Ronstadt with the Nelson Riddle orchestra-"What's New".  I have the vinyl but it's still packed away, so the Tidal version will do for now.
